Dec. 20 is Deadline to Submit Proposals to Manage Branson & Lakeview License Offices

JEFFERSON CITY - Interested groups or individuals will have until Dec. 20 to bid to operate the Branson and Lakeview license offices in southwest Missouri.

Last week, the Office of Administration issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) asking for bids to manage each of the license offices.  The ability for people or groups to bid to run local license offices is part of Gov. Jay Nixon's reformed competitive process that requires the Missouri Department of Revenue to choose office agents that present the best proposals for customer service and financial efficiency.

The RFPs note geographical boundaries for both of the offices.  A bid to manage the Branson License Office, currently located in Cedar Ridge Plaza at 1447-C State Highway 248, could include a new location for the office, but it would have to be within the city limits of Branson.  Bids for the Lakeview License Office (also known as the Branson West License Office) must include a location within Stone County and preferably 15 or more miles away from the Crane License Office.  The Lakeview office is currently located in Claybough Plaza Mall at 11016 E. State Highway 76, Suite 34, in Branson West.

People interested in submitting a bid to operate the Branson office may take a tour of the current facility from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7.  People interested in submitting a bid to run the Lakeview office may take a tour of the office from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5.

During Fiscal Year 2011 (July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011), the Branson License Office conducted 86,254 transactions and generated $268,986 in agent processing fees.  The Lakeview License Office conducted 36,294 transactions and generated $122,073 in agent fees.

Common transactions that take place at local license offices include renewing or applying for a driver license, renewing or applying for registration on motor vehicles, boats and outboard motors, and applying for titles and paying sales taxes on these units.

Copies of the RFPs that bidders will use to develop their bids can be viewed at https://www.moolb.mo.gov/.  To review an RFP, select "Guest" on the home page, click on "Open Bids By Agency," then scroll through the list of bids until the appropriate bid is located.  (The bid number for the Branson office is B3Z12099 and the bid number for the Lakeview office is B3Z12100.)  Additional information regarding the bidding process can be obtained at http://oa.mo.gov/purch/vendorinfo/DORoffices.pdf or by calling the Office of Administration at (573) 751-2387.
