Pineville License Agent To Close Local Office; Other Offices Available Until New Pineville Agent Selected
PINEVILLE - The Pineville motor vehicle and driver license office will close at the end of the business day on Wednesday, Sept. 30, and re-open when a new license office contract agent has been chosen to replace the retiring agent.
The office, located at 303 Harmon St., will close at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 30. Normal operating hours for the office are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The office phone number is (417) 223-4029.
The agent in charge of the office, Carrie Jones, has opted to retire from the position. The office will re-open after the Missouri Department of Revenue has chosen a new agent to replace Jones. A specific date for re-opening has not been determined.
Common transactions that are conducted at local license offices include renewing or applying for a driver license, renewing or applying for registration on motor vehicles, boats and outboard motors, and applying for titles and paying sales taxes on these units.
"It's unfortunate when an office has to temporarily close," said Alana M. Barragán-Scott, acting director of the Department of Revenue. "I know it will inconvenience some customers for a short time, but we are working to alleviate the problem as quickly as possible. There are other nearby license offices that McDonald County citizens can visit while the Pineville office is closed."

Barragán-Scott stressed that the office closing was not due to the new bidding process involving all 183 of the state's local license offices.
"Governor Jay Nixon's proposal to let people present plans to run license offices more efficiently is working well," she said. "There are two bidders for the Pineville office, and the department will work quickly to select the best proposal."
The two bidders for the Pineville License Office are William Hugh Brower and the McDonald County Chamber of Commerce Inc.
