Revenue Dept. To Help Nevada-Area Citizens Renew License Plates at August 13 Workshop
JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri Department of Revenue will host a workshop Thursday, August 13, from noon until 4:00 p.m. in Nevada to assist people who want to renew their license plates online or through the mail.
The workshop is being held to help alleviate any inconvenience that has occurred since the Nevada License Office was closed by the previous office agent on July 30. The department is reviewing four proposals from bidders to manage the office in the future, and the department hopes to select a winning bid in the near future.
The goal of the session is to directly assist people who want to renew their license plates online or to instruct people how to renew their plates themselves online or through the mail. No appointment is necessary; interested citizens may come at any time during the four-hour period. The session will be:
Date: Thursday, August 13, 2009
Time: Noon to 4 p.m.
Location: Nevada Chamber of Commerce-225 West Austin; Suite 200
(Located on the lower level of the Carnegie Building)
The system that will be used by the Department of Revenue officials visiting Nevada is the MORE (Missouri Online Registration Exchange) system. This online system gives Missourians a convenient option to renew most license plates without having to drive to a local license office.
It is important to note, however, that the MORE system can't be used to obtain or renew driver licenses, titles or renew personalized license plates (college, military, etc.).
Those interested in renewing license plates during the workshop should bring their renewal notice and other required documents listed on the notice. These include property tax receipts for the vehicle, proof of auto insurance and a recent safety inspection (if applicable). An acceptable form of payment, such as a credit card, debit card or check (but not cash) will also be necessary for people wanting to renew their license plates at the workshops. Not all transactions can be done online, but the process for renewing by mail will also be discussed.
Customers are also welcome at other area license offices until the Nevada office is reopened. Area offices are in Lamar, Stockton, Butler and Osceola. A list of all license offices and driving directions to them are available at http://dor.mo.gov/mvdl/offloc/.
