The Department of Revenue is producing “enhanced security tabs” that display a vehicle’s unique license plate number directly on the tab itself, thereby enabling law enforcement to quickly and easily detect whether the tab on the vehicle matches the license plate.

When can I obtain enhanced security tabs?

At the time of your next new vehicle or renewal registration transaction, at the office locations listed above.

If my registration doesn’t expire for several months, may I still obtain enhanced security tabs for my vehicle?

Yes. You will pay an $8.50 replacement fee and a $3.50 processing fee. You will be required to sign an affidavit indicating you will destroy your existing tabs.

If I just renewed my current registration, may I still obtain enhanced security tabs for my vehicle?
